The ThinkPad E15 Gen 4 (2022, $458, i3-1215U with an MX550) is the only recent-generation unit priced like a deal.

Roster medians: performance index 32.1, GPU score 2.7, reliability 29, portability 49 — this is the budget wing of the brand, not the flagship one, and the numbers say so plainly. Zero games clear recommended settings at the median configuration. The case for this bucket is simple: sub-$320 ThinkPad-chassis machines from 2019–2020 for office duty, and the occasional Z13 if premium portability at a discount appeals.
