This guide exists because these machines still circulate in the used market at tempting prices; its job is mostly to explain why the temptation should usually be resisted.

The configuration spread

The CPU mix is entry-tier across four Intel generations: Core i5 (5 rows) and Core i7 (2) lead on paper, but they are old U-series dual-cores, and the rest of the roster is Celeron, Pentium and AMD E1/A4/A6/A9 chips that were slow when new. RAM ceilings run 16 to 32 GB on paper, screens span 13.3 to 17.3 inches, and weights 1.55 to 2.8 kg.

Price versus age

There is barely a ladder to describe: every dated row from 2014 to 2019 clusters between $120 and $242, and the six undated rows sit inside the same band. A 2019 V340-17 asks $222 with a Pentium Gold; a 2014 G50-70 asks $179 with an old i7; the market prices them identically because performance-wise, they nearly are. Age buys nothing here and costs nothing — the entire roster lives in the same sub-$250 stratum.

Which one to buy

If something from this roster must be the answer, the least-bad rows are the V130-14IKB (2017, $132, Core i5 7200U) — the cheapest 7th-gen chip, adequate for documents — and the B51-80 (2015, $220, Core i5 6200U) as the larger-screen sibling. The B71-80 (2015, $242, Core i7 6500U + Radeon R5 M330) is the roster's maximum ask and one of its only two dGPU rows, but paying the ceiling price for 2015 dual-core silicon is exactly the trap this guide warns about. The undated Celeron and AMD E1 rows below $150 we would pass on at any price.
